Coffee tables are an important part of your living room furnishings but are sometimes less than exciting.  One great way to avoid this is too look for an imported coffee table.  There are plenty of imported furniture options on the market, some at very reasonable prices.  Many of these are designed and then produced on a large scale to reduce the cost.  That doesn’t mean that they don’t look good, however.  The global economy has made it possible to find unique designs for a fraction of the price they once were.  Varieties range from ornate designs to rustic looking coffee tables to sleek, modern ones.  Your options are nearly unlimited.  There are also an abundance of materials available.  Teak is a very popular material for imported furniture and makes beautiful coffee tables.  Bamboo is another attractive option for contemporary or imported coffee tables.  Some low, imported tables make for a great place to sit instead of using your dining room table.  Investing in a few decorative cushions to set around your imported coffee table gives you a great place to sit and sip tea or coffee.  This style of seating works very well with other Asian-inspired designs.  If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary to complement you home decoration, consider investing in a beautiful imported coffee table.

Coffee tables: So Many Styles

by guestpost on March 1, 2010

Coffee tables come in a vast number of sizes, styles, colors, and materials.  There are, however, some basic elements that make a coffee table a coffee table.   Here is an overview of coffee table design that can help you in making your next coffee table purchase.  All coffee tables have some sort of surface and a base.  Even if a coffee table is a basic box, there is still a surface and a base that sits on the ground.  Since coffee tables are low to the ground, the base tends to be shorter than that of a regular table.  The base can be composed of three or more legs, the previously mentioned box-like design or two or more pieces that resemble U’s that are flat on the bottom.  There are some other more innovative designs used in furniture design, but these are the most common.  How these bases are attached to the surface is a major factor in the quality of coffee tables.  Simply nailing or gluing a surface to a base is often not going to keep the two parts attached for very long.  Extra piece of wood, metal and plastic that secure the base to the surface ensure that the table will stay together and be able to support weight.  Basic construction is an important element in creating quality furniture and if you look carefully at the construction of coffee tables, you’ll see the difference in quality among the many varieties.

Cocktail Tables

by guestpost on December 22, 2009

They are handy when we have guests to serve cocktails and hors-d’oeuvres in the living room, but they can also serve as practical surfaces when you aren’t entertaining. Cocktail tables come in different styles and sizes. If you know you won’t entertain very much, choose a cocktail table that can also double as a coffee table, is not too high, and is easily washable. If you do entertain a lot, then a good investment is a higher, chic cocktail table that has shelves in the bottom to hold glasses and bottles and perhaps a small drawer for your pretty cocktail napkins.
