End tables are meant for decoration and not for use as places to keep plates, cups and glasses when you are having a party. Of course you don’t want to ruin the look of the end tables by filling them with coasters or even worse, putting a cover on them. But guests may not realize the effect a hot cup, cold glass or heavy plate can have on the surface of the tables. The best solution is to place vases and photographs on the table in such a way that they leave no room for anything to be put down there. Of course cluttering your end tables may detract from its looks, bit it is better than having them damaged.
