In the earlier days people usually bought small end tables in pairs as it was one for each sofa in the living room. However, regularity is actually not as important as it was during the earlier days in room layout and design. Today you have a wide variety of tables to choose from like end tables, nightstands, side tables and small end tables. Small end tables however do not mean that they should be placed only in the corners of the room but today is it perfectly acceptable to place your small end tables next to nightstands, sofas, beds and also in the middle of the living room.
